.....the other day i was wondering why only AAA games ret bid reviews by big company's. i have dcided to review all games from all platforms to give the more insignificant games a chance with the big boy's like gears of war and prototype.
And so without ferther of do i present you the first game that took my interest this week and YES it is on a strange platform.
Ipod touch is the new platform and as i recently bought one i thought it was worthy to undergo a gaming test. i looked for one of the most average, three star games i could find.
i found Zombieville 'USA' and i've decided to get all the good things out of the way then look for the really crusty things.
GAMEPLAY
Zombieville "Usa" is a simple 2D platformer that puts you in the role as.......a yokel thats on a mission to kil as many of the walking dead as humanly possible. thats the story pretty much but dont be fooled into thinking that the game hasnt been given any effort to have a story. Actually you can think that all you want cuz it would have bell better to have one. The gamplay is supprisingly imersive and when a zombie burrows up from underneath you to bite your testicles off it will send you shock....the first hundred times.
you might have guessed that the game is a bit repeditive but it is still pretty fun despite the stupid controlls and lack of enemy types. the enemy's are the fast and weak zombie, the medium speed and damage zombie, and the slow and "ZOMG thats powerful!" zombie.
The weapons are good although once you unlock the Ultimate/plasma/laser/f**k you/cannon gun which can carve up more enemy's than children found in Michel Jacksons cellar apon house inspection, there's really no need to use anything else cuz all the other weapons are so obsolete!
VISUALS
the layout (i think) issopposed to be slightly Arty and childish with it all in cute cartoon. Unfortunatly that thought that it is a childish game dribles away like red liquid streaming from the car wreck of princess Diana's crash. there is ALOT of gore from turning someone to chunkey kibble with the rocket launcher to seporating a sombie head from zombie shoulder's with the chainsaw, and unfortunatly it gives you the impession that your simply doing things thats been done in other games better than this one. the rocket launcher has been done better in games like Halo and Resistance and the chainsaw has been done miles better in Gears Of War. i know its unfair to compare a ipod game to a AAA titles such as these but it is worth mentioning.
Back yo the gore. you will notice that there are three types of gore. Bloody gore, Chunky-boney Gore and last but not least cooked gore. there are only slight vaiation between the Gore family members but im glad their there.
AUDIO
The sounds are uninmaginative BUT all the guns has there own sount which is somthing thats wets my wistle in a game. but thats about it, apart from the 60's horror track played on repeat.
FINAL THOUGHTS
the game is good but not great, it will pass the time but wont be of extreme excitment. its a low budget game that has done well for itself but could of done better. The hugest thing that annoyed me was the fact that when you health gets too low and die you have to restart the whole game which is like having a standed walk in the park and havin a bird crap on you at the end of the track.
